Principle 3 Prayer

Principle 3 Prayer

I have started reading a new book called The Miracle Morning.  It really has me thinking about how start each and every day.  What actions and thoughts I choose in the first hours of the morning will set the tone for the entire day.

I am currently putting together a morning routine which I will post here once done. One key part of the morning will include this prayer from Celebrate Recovery’s Principle 3 – Turn.

Dear God, I have tried to do it all by myself, on my own power, and I have failed.
Today, I want to turn my life over to You.
I ask you to be my Lord and Savior.
You are the One and only Higher Power!
I ask that you help me start to think less about me and my will.
I want to daily turn my will over to You, to daily seek Your direction and wisdom for my life.
Please continue to help me overcome my struggle with sexual purity and may victory over this help others as they see Your power at work in my changing life.
Help me to do Your will always.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Our outer world is a direct reflection of our inner world. If we are feeding our mind and spirit with good pure thoughts, we will get good pure thoughts out and vice versa if we are putting garbage into our mind.

I think this prayer really sets the focus for our mindset each and every morning. Those of us that have battled for sexual purity know that it is a battle of epic proportions and the only way to win is to find accountability and turn away completely from even the slightest trigger that might pull us back into the worm hole.

We need God’s help. We need accountability. We need to wake up and feed our mind the thoughts that we need to be less selfish and thinkless about ourselves.  Pornography and sexual impurity is selfish and totally about oneself.  God has better plans for our lives.  As I have mentioned several times before, the battle is not won one year at a time, but minute by minute.

“God, please help me to surrender to your will right now, right this minute.  Do not let me stumble.  I want to be pure, I want to make choices that glorify you and your kingdom. Give me the strength and the courage to run from temptation.  Do not let me hesitate in my choice to flee.  Guard my thoughts and help me to push out any thought that might lead me down a destructive path. All things are possible with you Lord and I ask that you will keep my eyes upon your face and my choices pure!”
